In March, we received a call from a guy who claimed he had rescued two "Large Eagles" and could he bring them to the us. Of we never like to turn birds away and since Nepal is rich with Birds of prey, the prospect of rescueing a couple of "Large Eagles" is always quite exciting. On arrival, and to our surprise, they were not Eagles at all but two young and very cute Brown Fish Owls. According the "rescuers" he had bought them from a guy who had taken the from the nest and would looking for some advice on how to keep them.
They were removed from the nest over 2 weeks before so it wasn't possible to to put them back, plus we had no idea where the nest was. Therefore they had to be kept in captivity. We had no room at the center, we were just putting the final touches to the new rehab aviary but we had birds already waiting to move.
It was decided that the guy who brought the birds to us would keep them, he was to build a large aviary under our Guidance and supervision. We'll keep a close eye on things from here and keep you posted on their progress.
